K006 - Heavy Cabling & SDMB5 in Duct

This module consists of two parts: a questionnaire and a practical assessment. It will check the Delegate's understanding & ability in the use of equipment and methods associated with heavy cabling and Sub-duct Mono-bore 5 (SDMB5) installation/repair. This will include setting up a site for cabling and carrying out heavy cabling/SDMB5 in the access network.

Description

This module is essential for anyone carrying out heavy cabling or Sub-duct activities in the access network.

Prerequisites

  • SA002 - Underground Safety
  • NRSWA Streetworks Qualification - Unit 01

Mandatory PPE - Please note without the correct PPE candidates could be refused onto the event and charges will still apply.

  • Hi Vis Clothing
  • Safety Boots 
  • Safety Helmet (with 4 point chin strap)
  • Gloves
  • Eye shields

This assessment will test the delegate's knowledge of and ability to install OFN cables in the U/G network where hand rodding is the chosen option, using current working practices and quality standards. It also covers fitting a no drill Mobra or flat bar for a CBT. Support, restraint and labelling will also be checked, this is to ensure understanding of the Quality standards
