S008 - PIA Overhead Cable Installation

The accreditation covers the engineering techniques used to deploy drop cable up to a maximum diameter of 7mm within the Openreach Overhead infrastructure safely. It also covers the agreed network quality standards associated with PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) CP (Communication Provider) cable deployment. The accreditation consists of a questionnaire and practical assessment.

Description

This module assesses the delegate's knowledge and ability to install a CP overhead cable in line with current PIA terms and conditions. A minimum of 5 poles and associated overhead cabling shall be assessed for suitable deployment of CP cables and/or apparatus.

Prerequisites

  • SA001 - Overhead Safety or equivalent
  • NRSWA Streetworks Qualification - Unit 01

Mandatory PPE - Please note without the correct PPE candidates could be refused onto the event and charges will still apply.

  • Hi-Vis Clothing
  • Safety Boots (with defined heel)
  • Safety Helmet (with 4 point chin strap)
