S007 - PIA Sub-Duct & Cable Installation

The accreditation covers the engineering techniques used to deploy cable and Sub Duct up to a maximum diameter of 25mm within the Openreach underground infrastructure safely. It also covers the agreed network quality standards associated with PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) CP (Communication Provider) cable deployment. The accreditation consists of a questionnaire and practical assessment.

Description

This assessment will involve a questionnaire to test the delegate's knowledge of sub-duct/cable installation in the Openreach underground network and the completion of a 'live' installation job to the correct quality standard. This will be completed in a live or simulated situation utilising the current methodology employed by the CP to install their sub-duct and/or cable. This can be mechanised or manual. A CP cable shall be installed in a minimum of 2 duct sections (3 x Joint boxes) containing Openreach network cabling.
