K003 - Lightweight Aerial Cabling

The Safety Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) suite of schemes have been developed in collaboration with industry to provide a uniform approach to health, safety and environmental awareness training across the utilities sector, in line with Health and Safety Executive guidelines. It is designed for individuals who require access to operational sites within the telecommunications industry, both permanent and temporary, at all levels including operatives, supervisors and management.

This course will check the Delegates understanding & ability to complete the provision and renewal of Dropwire, over a road crossing as a 'singleton worker'. This module also includes an observation exercise based around quality standards and a practical covering the termination of Dropwire and underground cable, on various Box Connections. All tasks must be completed using current working practices and quality standards.

This module is essential for anyone carrying out Fibre to The Premises (FTTP), Lead to Cash (L2C), Overhead (OH) and Underground (UG) Provision Step 1

This course will give the delegate the knowledge, experience and confidence of specification and successful installation of fibre optic cables.

2 day course covering the theory and best practice of blown fibre installation.

This module is essential for anyone carrying out basic fibre testing from the ONT to the Splitter.

This assessment will test the delegates knowledge of heavyweight aerial cabling, including the termination on wooden poles.

This course contains training prior to taking the assessment . This accreditation is a mandatory requirement for Partners who have team members registered under Survey/Planning based activities. This will test the delegate’s knowledge of undertaking a survey and the factors that must be considered, Environmental obligations, Obligation under the Telecommunications Code, Obligation under the Regulations and Obligation under the Town & Country Planning acts.
