K009 - Optical Fibre Cabling and Air Blowing Practices

The Safety Health and Environmental Awareness (SHEA) suite of schemes have been developed in collaboration with industry to provide a uniform approach to health, safety and environmental awareness training across the utilities sector, in line with Health and Safety Executive guidelines. It is designed for individuals who require access to operational sites within the telecommunications industry, both permanent and temporary, at all levels including operatives, supervisors and management.

The module target audience are engineers and Contract Partners completing internal cabling within Exchanges.

This module consists of two parts, a questionnaire and a practical session. It will check the delegates understanding & ability to complete provision of the UG (Underground) and OH (Overhead) network from an Aggregation Node to the CBT (Connectorised Block Terminal) using current working practices and quality standards.

This assessment will test the delegate's knowledge of Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) - Multi Dwelling Units (MDU) Plan & Build (P&B) activities

This assessment will check the Delegate's understanding & ability of providing a FTTP customer's fibre from the CSP (Customer Service Point) to the ONT (Optical Network Termination) and the fitting of the equipment in the customer's premises including data extension wiring if applicable.

It will check the Delegates understanding & ability to complete the provision of Lightweight Aerial Cabling, including the termination on wooden poles using current working practices and quality standards.

This module consists of three parts, a questionnaire and two practical sessions. It will check the delegates understanding & ability to complete O/H (Overhead) fibre cabling using the correct working practices and quality standards.

This module is essential for anyone carrying out Ribbon Fibre splicing.

3 day course covering the safe and effective use of blown fibre equipment to install telecommunications cable.

Updated CFIT Fibre

This is assessment only, no additional training is provided. This assessment consists of two parts, a questionnaire and a practical session. It will check the delegates understanding & ability to complete provision of the UG (Underground) and OH (Overhead) network from an Aggregation Node to the CBT (Connectorised Block Terminal) using current working practices and quality standards.

This module is essential for anyone carrying out Fibre to The Premises (FTTP), Lead to Cash (L2C), Overhead (OH) and Underground (UG) Provision Step 1

This course will give the delegate the knowledge, experience and confidence of specification and successful installation of fibre optic cables.

3 day course covering the theory and best practice of blown fibre installation.

This module is essential for anyone carrying out basic fibre testing from the ONT to the Splitter.

This course contains training prior to taking the assessment . This accreditation is a mandatory requirement for Partners who have team members registered under Survey/Planning based activities. This will test the delegate’s knowledge of undertaking a survey and the factors that must be considered, Environmental obligations, Obligation under the Telecommunications Code, Obligation under the Regulations and Obligation under the Town & Country Planning acts.

This accreditation will instruct and assess a delegates understanding & ability to overblow the correct COF in the correct SDMB using current working practices and quality standards
